21st Century Artifacts

Creating - Exploring - Designing - Living - Growing

STATEMENT:

I love making cool stuff! I find tremendous joy in the process of changing a great idea into a physical reality that I can share with others.

I love growing my range of capabilities and acquiring more knowledge and techniques.

Exploring new materials, new tools, and new methods has a synergetic effect overcoming all obstacles to making things manifest.

The more I know, the more and better I make. The more I make, the more and better I know.

We all seek connection to others-- there's no greater satisfaction than seeing delight and amazement in a person's eyes and knowing that my work gave them that! When someone shares in my joy and excitement, I directly feel my purpose and place in the Universe.

Never before, has the distance been shorter between a concept and its reality. I design virtually, sketching and 3D-modeling out my concepts, and driving digital fabrication equipment like 3D printers and laser cutters for the parts. I then figure out how to put all the parts together. When I've worked out the assembly process, I make more, and in different sizes.

My aesthetic currently explores a juxtaposition of familiar organic shapes accurately depicted with mechanical or architectural frame structure, as a commentary on the increasingly eroding line between the natural and artificial, and the industrialization of human and animal life.
