The Past

BIO:

Guy Garrison's autodidactic path began in the early 90s, in a San Francisco basement filled with dismantled VCR and video camera parts. Inspired by Japanese anime and cyberpunk his mixed-media costume and sculpture work led to an award-winning career in 3D animation and VFX for such notable companies as Softimage-Microsoft, Tribeca Interactive, Fujitsu Interactive, and The Rainforest Action Network among others.

Upon migrating to Seattle in 2006, Guy explored his love of storytelling and science fiction, co-authoring and publishing a gaming book, co-writing a film script, making short films, and creating original-design props and set elements. In 2016, Guy constructed his first 3D printer, joining his digital design experience with his passion for making physical artifacts. Guy was awarded a McKay Grant by the Fremont Arts Council in 2018 to construct a 13-foot parade float using repurposed laser-cut materials.

In 2019, Guy was tapped by stage director Ameenah Kaplan to develop troll shadow puppets for an upcoming stage musical Lydia and the Troll. To this end, Guy acquired his own laser cutter in 2021, forming RazorBeam LLC as a laser cutting & engraving service, and Guybernetic LLC for design and development. Ostensibly credited as Puppet Creator & Puppeteer, Guy developed the world's first 3-dimensional shadow puppet. He was also written into the script as a character, adding stage acting to his repetoire of experience. Lydia premiered in May of 2023 to a successful 5-week run.

Based on his concepts and techniques learned making the Troll puppet in Lydia, Guy's work now explores a whole new direction with his Yorick Skull Lamp as the first in a series of highly detailed sculptural products.
